CD Projekt Red released Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.6 on September 6th. It’s labeled “The Edgerunner Update” and introduces The Wardrobe feature, new side missions, new guns and bugfixes!

I want to start off with this even though it’s not technically part of today’s update, of course. On September 6th 2022 CD Projekt Red hosted a live stream and released several videos to announce this major new content update 1.6 and reveal the title of the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 Expansion – Phantom Liberty.

The expansion will offer new story with new cast. Johnny Silverhand will still remain at V’s side, of course. Keanu Reeves is going to return to voice the rebel rocker boy again.

The expansion is coming in 2023, but no further release date details are available at this moment. We will most likely see the Witcher 3 Next Gen update before this DLC. Information on pricing and pre-order availability for Phantom Liberty is also unavailable at this time.

In this section I will show and tell you about some of the most interesting changes, new features and content added to the game with this update. Further below in the post you can check out the full official patch notes if you want to.

In Update 1.5 we got the ability to change V’s appearance in-game. Patch 1.6 builds upon that feature by adding the Wardrobe – a way for V to change their outfits without that having an effect on stats and gameplay.

The Wardrobe offers six outfit slots, which you can use to create six separate outfits and switch between them whenever you wish to.

There are no requirements to access the Wardrobe, apart from the fact that it’s located in V’s apartment. You will need to play through the first few missions to unlock your first apartment. Later you will be able to unlock and purchase additional apartments in Night City.

In Night City, and in some of V’s apartments, you will be able to play a new side-scroller mini game called “Roach Race”. The arcade machines are easily accessible in the Northside, Japantown and The Glen apartments, if you have them unlocked.

This mini game gives you control over Roach, Geralt’s trusty steed from The Witcher. The gameplay is very simple, but enjoyable. The leaderboards could potentially turn you into a Roach Race addict.

Roach Race is even available as a stand-alone game for mobile devices. You can get it on your Android and/or Apple phone or tablet. Note that the leaderboards there are separate from the mini game in Cyberpunk 2077.

Update 1.6 introduces a whole lot of new guns and melee weapons for V to obtain and enjoy!

If you are like me and have completed absolutely everything there is to complete, including 100% Cyberpunk 2077 Achievements, you will be happy to hear about the three new gigs introduced with 1.6!

Here are the brief details for these new gigs, so you’d know where to look for them on the map and who you will get them from:

CD Projekt Red made it possible to have a shared progress between platforms. Your latest saves will be automatically uploaded to the cloud so you can continue where you left off easily on other platforms.

Cross-progression provides the latest save for every save type (Quick, Auto, Manual, etc.). Feature becomes available after you log in with your account (from Main Menu or the in-game Load Game menu). Cross-progression may be limited when it comes to console versions with regional restrictions

After you make a Cross-Progression save to the cloud, it will be marked with a small blue cloud icon in the top right corner of the save tab on the save game screen.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is a Netflix exclusive TV Series based on the Cyberpunk 2077 video game. In fact, the story in the series will involve characters from the game and will take place in about the same time frame as the game’s story.

Edgerunners premieres on Netflix on September 13th 2022. Created by the Trigger anime studio, the series will follow the adventures of a teenager edgerunner-wannabe David Martinez.

Cyberpunk 2077’s Update 1.6 is called “The Edgerunner Update” because it does create connections between the tv series and the game. You will be able to get the yellow jacket that David is wearing in the series. There are also more hints and secrets spread around Night City related to the show.

The best easter egg is the XBD from the side job “Over the Edge” in which you can get David Martinez’s Yellow Jacket that he wears in the Netflix Cyberpunk: Edgerunners TV series.

You may have already noticed The David Martinez cocktail available at the Afterlife, right? This isn’t a new easter egg from 1.6. It’s been here for a long time. I can’t actually remember if it’s from the launch game or added with a patch, but has been around for a long time.

You can now take photos of Nibbles in Photo Mode! While in Photo Mode, go to the “Pose” tab and choose Nibbles in the “Character” section.

Access Photo Mode by pressing the shortcut button for that. It’s “N” by default on PC. Next, open the “Pose” tab and select Nibbles in the “Character” line.

This option becomes available only after you invite Nibbles to V’s apartment.

In this segment I want to point out a few of the changes that CD Projekt Red decided to hide inside the patch notes, but I think these changes and fixes are important for you to know! I’ll just share and explain them in separata paragraphs, in no particular order.

The Update is rather big. For the GOG version of the game, it was over 12 GB in size.

You can now modify V’s appearance at any ripperdock in Night City. As soon as you approach them, you will get an extra option in the starter dialogue to change your appearance. This will bring you into the Appearance Designer tool introduced with Update 1.5. For this patch, though, CD Projekt Red have added a few new options for hair styles and other tweaks.

You can now preview items on your character before you purchase them in the stores. The default shortcut to preview an item is “V” and it appears as an overlay to the current screen. In the image below I am checking out this “cool” hat.

A couple of Poison Perks in the Ninjutsu Skill Tree have been added. Corrosive Poison and Critical Antidote replace Hasten the Inevitable and Neurotoxin perks respectively.

Xbox Series S console players will be able to enjoy a new game mode that improves the game’s performance. You can take a look at the demo video below.

The Edgerunners Update (Patch 1.6) is live on all platforms!

It brings various gameplay fixes and improvements, free DLCs, as well as content inspired by Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. The anime will premiere on Netflix on September 13th.

Below you can find the list of the most notable changes coming in this update.

Wardrobe allows you to change the appearance of your outfit without changing your armor stats. You can create up to 6 outfits using the pieces of clothing you own by accessing the wardrobe in any of V’s apartments and safehouses and then switch between them in the Inventory panel.

Fixers will give you 3 new gigs

Added a Cross-progression feature between platforms. Your latest saves will be automatically uploaded to the cloud so you can continue where you left off easily on other platforms. Added some secrets related to the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime series to be discovered in Night City, including new equipment and new Photo Mode features.

You can now play a brand new mini game using arcade machines located in Night City, including the ones in the Northside, Japantown and The Glen apartments. Climb the leaderboard to earn special prizes including cash and items! If you’re enjoying Roach Race in Cyberpunk 2077, check out the mobile version for Android and iOS. Remember that your high scores in the in-game and mobile versions are separate, though.

The following changes take effect only on the PC version of the game and once the REDmod is installed.
