The screens and crusher will be on display at ConExpo-Con/Agg.

Powerscreen, Dungannon, Colorado, will attend ConExpo-Con/Agg 2017 March 7 to 11 in Las Vegas. Powerscreen will be exhibiting on the Terex booth in the outdoor Gold Lot at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Three machines will be on display: Premiertrak 600 jaw crusher, Warrior 600 and Warrior 2400 screens. The Warrior 600 is available in seven machines of varying size. It features a conversion from 3-way split mode to 2-way split mode and features a 8 foot by 4 foot screenbox. The two-bearing screenbox promotes separation of large items from material fines in recycling tasks, such as soils from tree stumps and logs, fines and rock from overburden and blasted rock.

Specially designed for large scale operators in the quarrying and mining sectors, the Warrior 2400 screen is designed to handle larger feed sizes and throughputs. It features an incline screen with a high amplitude triple shaft drive mechanism, lending it to screening, scalping, 2 or 3 way splitting and stockpiling materials like aggregates, topsoil, coal, construction, demolition waste and iron ore. It’s electrical control system allows operators to monitor and diagnose the machine on site via an LCD display without specialist tools. The Warrior 2400 is available with optional dual power. The diesel-hydraulic and diesel-electric variants of the Premiertrak 600 jaw crusher is fed by a vibrating grizzly feeder with variable speed control and a large grizzly area to maximize removal of fine material to extend the wear life of jaw plates within the crusher chamber. The bypass chute is also fitted with wear-resistant liners as standard, and incorporates an adjustable five-position deflector plate to divert material to either the product or side conveyors. The machine control system incorporates an interface with intuitive graphics and high resolution display. The speed of jaw crusher on the Premiertrak 600 can be varied to suit the application and the hydraulic system has been designed and configured to increase uptime and fuel efficiency.  The Premiertrak 600E electric variant is equipped with an over-size genset sufficient to powers the Warrior 1400XE heavy duty scalping screen and additionally can be powered from a main source The Premiertrak 600 can be configured with an independent live pre-screen for the efficient removal of scalped materials either into a waste or a sized sub-base product.

Stand Down on Safety, Jan. 23-27, 2017, focuses on vehicle backing.

David Biderman received the award for his commitment to safety in 2016.

The Solid Waste Association of North America’s (SWANA’s) Executive Director and CEO David Biderman has been awarded PRECO Electronics’ Safety in Motion Award for his “unparalleled commitment to safety” in 2016. PRECO Electronics is a Boise, Idaho-based heavy-duty vehicle collision mitigation technology provider.

The Safety in Motion Award is given annually to honor industry leaders who PRECO believes show initiative, imagination and involvement regarding their approach to safety, distinguishing themselves as a voice of safety for the industry.

“I am very pleased to accept this award, which is really a reflection of SWANA’s renewed focus on reducing accidents and injuries throughout the industry,” says Biderman. “SWANA’s International Board, chapters, technical divisions, and members all recognize the importance of working safely and are committed to improving the industry’s safety performance.”

Since becoming executive director and CEO of Silver Spring, Maryland-based SWANA less than two years ago, Biderman has transformed SWANA’s safety program by adding numerous safety events at the chapter level, expanding the Safety Summit at major conferences, supervising the distribution of Safety Alerts on a regular basis, developing new safety resources for members and creating an award-winning Safety Ambassador program, PRECO says.

Refuse and recyclable materials collection remains the fifth-most-dangerous job in the U.S., according to the 2015 National Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries released last month; this disturbing statistic will be a driving force behind SWANA’s safety efforts in 2017.

“We will continue to provide high quality safety resources to the entire industry – to employers and employees in both the public and private sectors, with the goal of getting the industry off the list of 10 most dangerous jobs,” says Biderman. “Nothing we do is more important.”

The Galaxy Hulk features a tread pattern designed for optimal grip.

The Wakefield, Massachusetts-based Alliance Tire Group (ATG) has introduced the Galaxy Hulk Deep-Tread SDS, a skid steer tire featuring what ATG calls a “massive block tread pattern.”

ATG says the tread patter is “long a favorite among operators in tough conditions,” and that the Hulk has been created with “solid construction for the toughest challenges in material handling, construction and farming.” The Hulk SDS is the latest addition to the Galaxy severe duty solid (SDS) line, which also contains solid versions of the company’s Beefy Baby and Yardmaster tread pattern tires.

“As part of the growing Galaxy SDS solids lineup, the Hulk SDS delivers the same industry-leading tread pattern and depth that has made it popular worldwide, now in a solid design for even longer service life,” says Seth Walters, manager-special product programs for Alliance Tire Americas. The chevron-and-block pattern of the Hulk SDS tread provides excellent self-cleaning while delivering long service life on all surfaces with its 68-percent rubber-to-void ratio, he adds.

“In severe service use, the solid Hulk ensures that downtime is virtually eliminated, load capacity is increased and tire life is more than doubled,” says Walters. “The Galaxy Hulk SDS has been introduced in two extremely popular sizes—30 inches by 10 inches by 16 inches and 33 inches by 12 inches by 16 inches—with and without apertures. We’re seeing a lot of excitement about the new Hulk SDS from people who use their skid steers in real severe duty situations, including waste handling facilities, scrap metal yards, steel mills, rock quarries, dairy farms and other sites where puncture and excessive wear are constant challenges. People are telling us that the Hulk SDS is exactly the tire they’ve been waiting for,” he says.

The Alliance Tire Group (ATG) has a history reaching back more than 60 years and offers the Alliance, Galaxy and Primex brands. The company makes more than 2,000 different types of tires sold to farmers, loggers, construction teams, miners, material handlers and buyers in other sectors.
